Dublin City University welcomed Professor Enrico Letta, former Prime Minister of Italy, to its Glasnevin Campus this week, where he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University.

The ceremony took place at The Helix on 23 September and recognised Professor Letta’s contribution to European public life, academia and European integration.

An international perspective at DCU

Welcoming international voices and perspectives is an important part of university life at DCU. Professor Letta’s visit brought together members of the university community and guests from across Europe for an occasion centred on education, knowledge and Europe’s future.

Before the conferring ceremony, Professor Letta delivered a keynote address at a DCU event examining the EU Competitiveness Agenda and the future of the European Single Market.

Professor Letta served as Prime Minister of Italy from 2013 to 2014 and has continued to play an active role in European academic and public life. In 2024, he presented Much More Than a Market, his report on the future of the European Single Market.

Connecting our campus with the wider world
