Dublin City University has over 30 years’ experience delivering summer residential English language programmes for junior students. Our Summer Residential Programme offers international students aged 12 and upwards the opportunity to improve their English, make new friends and experience life on a university campus in Dublin.
Combining English language tuition with cultural experiences, sports, social activities and excursions, the programme provides a supportive and engaging environment where students can develop their confidence and communication skills while discovering Dublin and Ireland.

Key Information:
- Our Summer Residential Programme operates primarily from DCU Glasnevin Campus, a modern university campus set within 85 acres of parkland.
- The campus offers a wide range of facilities, including classrooms, restaurants, a sports centre, swimming pool, pharmacy, theatre, library and supermarket.
- DCU has over 1,400 on-campus residential beds, with free Wi-Fi, reception and 24-hour security.
- Each summer, we welcome more than 3,000 students to our residential programmes.
- DCU Glasnevin Campus is located in a residential neighbourhood, approximately 15 minutes from Dublin Airport and within easy reach of Dublin City Centre.
- Students have the opportunity to mix with international students, subject to availability and the mix of students attending during their programme dates.

Programme Dates & Availability
Our Junior Summer Residential Programme is available during June, July and August 2027, subject to availability.
International classes will be offered during the following periods:

What’s Included in the Programme?
Our programme includes English tuition, accommodation, meals, airport transfers and a varied programme of activities and excursions.
For a standard two-week programme, students receive:
- 30 hours of General English tuition
- 10 half-day activities
- 10 evening activities
- 2 day trips
- On-campus residential accommodation
- Full-board meals
- Private return airport transfers with DCU staff
- DCU International Academy Certificate and Learning Journal
- Support from the DCU team throughout the programme
Summary Specification Information
Tuition
✓ Students receive 15 hours of General English tuition per week, with classes scheduled across a mixture of mornings and afternoons.
✓ Lessons focus on developing English language and communication skills in a supportive and engaging learning environment.
✓ Internationalised classes will be offered, subject to availability, from 13–26 June 2027 and 25 July–7 August 2027. Outside these periods, international classes are not guaranteed and are subject to availability.
✓ Students receive a DCU International Academy Certificate and Learning Journal as part of their programme.
Accommodation
✓ Students stay in twin ensuite bedrooms at DCU Residence, while group leaders have single ensuite bedrooms.
✓ Students share apartments with typically 4–5 bedrooms and a communal lounge. Bed linen and towels are provided, with weekly room cleaning.
✓ Facilities include free Wi-Fi, reception, 24-hour security and laundry facilities (additional charges apply).
✓ Check-in is from 16:00 and check-out is at 10:00. Luggage storage can be arranged outside these times.
✓ Full-board meals are provided, so kitchen utensils are not supplied.
✓ Students and leaders should bring toiletries, a hairdryer if needed and an adapter for Irish Type G sockets.
Please note: Host Family/Homestay accommodation is not available for junior students during the summer programme.
Meals
Students and group leaders receive full-board meals at DCU Restaurant throughout their stay.
✓ Weekdays: Breakfast, hot lunch and dinner
✓ Weekends: Breakfast, packed lunch and dinner
✓ The first included meal is dinner on the day of arrival, and the final meal is breakfast on the day of departure.
✓ Dietary requirements, including vegetarian and coeliac diets, can be catered for.
Airport Transfers
✓ Return airport transfers are provided by private coach with DCU staff.
✓ Arrivals and departures can be accommodated at any time of day or night.
✓ DCU Glasnevin Campus is approximately 15 minutes from Dublin Airport.
SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
Discover Dublin and Irish culture through a varied programme of activities led by DCU guides.
A typical two-week programme includes:

Activities are done using local transport which uses LEAP cards.

Internationalisation
Our Summer Residential Programme welcomes students from different countries, creating opportunities for young learners to make new friends and practise their English.
Where possible, groups are placed in international classes alongside students of other nationalities. Internationalisation depends on availability and the mix of students attending during the selected programme dates.
International classes will be offered during 13 – 26 June 2027 and 25 July – 7 August 2027.
