DCU can provide tailor-made semester abroad / year abroad courses for students of partner universities, to include company visits or work experience placements.
Programme design is bespoke and completed in consultation with the sending institution, and the specification may include:
Foundational Skills
- Language development classes for students in General English skills and Business English skills.
- Module on Cultural Development, to equip students for living and working in a western environment.
- Training in designing a CV (Resume), and how to apply for a job.
- Practical workshops and one-to-one training to develop interview skills.
Practical Elements
- DCU can arrange company visits to organisations and industries that are relevant to students’ area of study.
- Work experience placements or volunteering opportunities are also possible – subject to availability, minimum student language level and suitability of student to role.
Accommodation and Other Support Services
DCU can arrange Host Family or Student Residence accommodation, either for full programme duration or for a shorter period. If you wish to book accommodation with us, please indicate this on your online application.
Please note: residence accommodation is available from 10/05/2027 to 28/08/2027 only. Host Family accommodation is available year-round.
Other services including airport transfers can be arranged if desired.
Please Note:
- This programme type is available to groups of students only (i.e. a group sent by a partner institution) and not to individual students.
- Minimum programme duration is 12 weeks.
- These programmes are not available in summer period.
- Indicative commencement dates for these programmes are the months of January, April or September.
- Credits for participation may be awarded to attending students by their home university. DCU will provide course certification and transcript upon programme completion.
