Origami Paper Crane Workshop with Yasuda Women’s University

March 18th, 2026 english

On Tuesday 10th March, DCU International Academy had the pleasure of hosting a unique and meaningful Origami Paper Crane Workshop, delivered by students from Yasuda Women’s University, Japan, and attended by students and staff from DCU.

The workshop offered participants an opportunity to engage with the powerful history of Hiroshima through the story of the paper crane, a globally recognised symbol of peace and hope. The session began with an introduction to the significance of the crane in Japanese culture, highlighting its association with healing, resilience, and remembrance.

Attendees were then guided step-by-step through the process of creating their own origami paper cranes. With clear instruction and a welcoming atmosphere, both students and staff were able to take part, regardless of prior experience, learning a new skill while reflecting on its deeper meaning.

The event created a calm and collaborative environment, encouraging cultural exchange and meaningful conversation between participants. It was a valuable opportunity for the DCU community to connect with visiting students and gain insight into an important aspect of Japanese tradition and history.

We extend our sincere thanks to the students from Yasuda Women’s University for hosting such a thoughtful and engaging workshop.
