DCU IA offers Host Family accommodation to students attending our programmes.
Students will live as a member of an Irish family for the duration of their stay. This accommodation option allows students to practice their English language skills outside of the classroom and immerse themselves in Irish domestic life.
General Information – What is Provided:
- Single bedroom for individual adult students, and single / twin rooms for student groups. Twin bedrooms as standard for junior students.
- Breakfast and dinner (Monday to Friday).
- At weekends the Host Family provides all meals.
- We can arrange a Host Family to suit student dietary needs or other special requirements.
- A study desk will be provided within the home. Internet access is provided.
- Towels and bed linen provided. Access to the family laundry is available.
- Host family homes are generally located on a direct bus route to DCU, or within walking distance of DCU.
DCU has a dedicated in-house accommodation team, and does not contract accommodation services to a third party. We have over 400 Host Families, most of whom have worked with us for many years. Our dedicated, experienced accommodation team will work to ensure students are placed to suitable home for needs and requirements. Furthermore, we operate a 24 hours helpline, which can assist students out-of-hours in the event that assistance is required.
A suitable Host Family placement is the foundation for a successful student experience of DCU and Ireland. DCU IA places students to Host Family accommodation in neighbourhoods that are close to DCU.
When making an online application for your programme, please indicate if you wish to book Host Family accommodation. Usually students will book Host Family accommodation from one day before their course starts (Sunday), until the day after their course concludes (Saturday). However we can be flexible to suit arrival / departure on other days to meet your travel schedule.
